Ok…Let’s talk about foundation. First off, I am generally an all or nothing type of gal. I have no shame in my game and will run around town with a bare face. Sometimes I don’t have the time to apply, or in all honesty, if I am just running to Shoprite…I don’t find it necessary. I have a few foundations that I have very dedicated to, but I always struggled to find on that I could just slap on and go, with minimal effort, but still covered what I want to be covered. The struggle was real. I tried this one, and I tried that one. I would half love, and half commit myself to it until something new and exciting came along. And it finally did….Continue reading…
So, I’ve recently been itching for a new blush that would also add a little glow. I’ve heard AMAZING things about Becca highlighters, so after browsing around I figured…why not give this a shot.
When I first opened the packaging (I’m a big online shopper), I was a little nervous about the color. For those who watched Real Housewives of Dallas, I was a little concered I’d look a little LeeAnne with this shade.
BUT I’m really glad I gave it a shot anyway, because I actually really really love it. Opposed to most blushes having a shimmer, this has more of a luminous glow which I really love and look for in a blush. It’s quite pigmented which I read in quite a few different reviews, so I was a little too light handed with applying at first. A little does go a long way, so I do recommend starting small at first and adding more if needed, it took me a couple times using to find the right balance for me. I was also pleasantly surprised at how buildable the product was whether wanting a sheer wash of color or a more dramatic application.
My only real issue with this blush is that I can’t decide what color I’d like to snag next!
After spending a week at the Jersey Shore and logging countless house in the sun, my skin is ready for some rest. Even after countless applications of sunscreen and slathering on moisturizer and after sun, my skin is parched. When I came home I really wanted to pamper my skin and give it a boost. While pondering my options I remembered that I have the First Aid Beauty 5 in 1 Bouncy Mask , and figured I would give it a whirl……
I’m not usually big on dropping 30+ bucks on a lip, but I recently saw someone wearing this color and I NEEDED IT.
Yesterday I finally gave it a try, and here’s the scoop on it.
I have fuller lips, so it’s larger applicator brush is a godsend for me, and it’s shape makes a quick and even application (even on the dreaded cupids bow area) easy peasy! As far as “glossy” I would say it for sure applies like a gloss, and doesn’t matte down or dry out the lips, but it doesn’t leave an actual glossy finish. BUT if you’re in it for the gloss, you can let it dry down a few minutes then apply your favorite gloss on top! After eating I did need to reapply, but it wore through pretty much the rest of my day. Whether wearing a full face or a simple natural look, this pink will pair well with just about any face of makeup and the color can even be deepened with a 2nd coat. This is def my new go-to lippie, and I’m probably going to end up spending an inappropriate amount of money on quite a few more colors that I’ve been stalking out.
So, to sum it up…color selection, pigment, texture, and wear- all rank as solid and worth the price tag in my book!
Here’s a little swatchy on my hand:
& you can actually see a me wearing it in an instagram post from yesterday!
Who doesn’t love to travel? This girl does! I am currently gathering my stuff for a fun and sun filled week at the Jersey Shore. I figured now is a perfect time to share what I consider to be my must have travel hacks! A quick weekend getaway or a week at the beach, all make my heart happy. The only part I hate? Packing! Ugh.. It drains me and it gives me anxiety. What am I forgetting? Is my suitcase painfully heavy? What if I lose something?? Did I randomly pack a 8 oz tube of sunscreen in my carry on? I hate to bring home random half used/wet things. I over think it…every.single.time.
Summer is typically my most active travel time of year and when the time comes to pack up shop, there’s a few things I leave behind & a few extra I’m sure to bring along. My typical skincare/beauty routine, of course, comes along in travel sizes along with these travel specific favs of mine!
No matter how much randomness collects in a makeup bag, anyone who has one can tell you exactly why each product has made it’s way in there and exactly what it’s purpose is. For me, the collective theme of my makeup bag is being prepared to fix up/add to/tweak whatever version of face I have on that day. To see what I use to accomplish that, continue reading!
Welcome to my makeup bag! Technically I do not use an actual make up bag within my bag. I try to keep my everyday bag fairly small; the bigger the bag I use the more junk I will drag around with me. After years of using a gigantic bag, I have settled into a small cross body and I shove everything I need into it. Yes, I need the 10 lip options with me.
A friend of mine challenged to to actually show everything. She stated that she ” always wondered if people are actually honest about what is in their bag.” So I included my inhaler ( I have asthma), my on the go Advil ( never know when it will be needed), and my sunglasses that I like to have close to me ( no one wants to squint!). That brings me to my lip collection. Yes, I always have a collection with me, I like to have options. Yes, I use them all. I know it is obsessive, but I am a lover lip products and they make me happy. I will include a list of brands and colors at the end.
I also like to have a brow pencil on me. My brows are in a perpetual stage of being grown in, so I like to keep an eye on them. Usually, when I do fill my brows in, they wear well….but I like to be prepared in case any sparse spots appear! My favorite to keep on had is the Urban Decay Brow Beater Microfine Brow Pencil and Brush I use the shade warm brown, I find it is easiest to blend out and the pin point brush makes for perfect touch up on the go
That brings me to a newer addition to my collection. The Blotterazzi by Beautyblender. Sephora explains it as “a chic mirrors compact with two blotting sponges, made of Beautyblender material, for beauty touch ups on the go “. It’s like blotting papers that you don’t throw away, and absorbs oil and shine without having to put the sponge back into your powder compact !! Yay!! So far , I think it is made out of magic.. I am hooked!
So, that is what is happening in my bag! Here is a list of my lip colors from left to right:
- Clinique Pop Glaze Sheer Lip Color +Primer : Sugar Plum Pop
- Urban Decay Lipstick : Rush
- Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm: Flowering Freesia
- Clinique Chubby Stick Baby Tint Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm: Poppin’ Poppy
- Tarte Tarteist Glossy Lip Paint: Goals
- Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid: Nude Thrill
- Lorac Alter Ego Lip Gloss: Flower Child
- Benefit Cosmetics Benebalm Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm: Cha Cha Balm
- Lipstick Queen:Frog Prince Lipstick
- Loreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick: Tender Berry
And Honorable Mention goes to EOS Lip Balm in Coconut Milk
Most of these are hydrating, sheer, and easy. I can slap them all on while on the go, and change them up as I find fit. The Loreal Infallible Le Rouge, Clinique Pop Glaze, Urban Decay, and Maybelline are longer wearing, but still great, easy on-the-go formulas.
In all honesty, I am a girl who finds herself to be more confident when drenched in a fabulous lip color. These little guys are must haves in my everyday bag!
I hope you enjoyed the walk around my makeup bag!
